Department Overview

The Department of Psychology at Aydın Adnan Menderes University was established within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on May 6, 2005. In addition to undergraduate education, the Department currently offers graduate education through the Psychology Graduate Program, Clinical Psychology Graduate Program, and Clinical Psychology PhD Program under the Department of Psychology.

The undergraduate Psychology Program admitted its first students in the 2015–2016 academic year. As of the 2025–2026 academic year, the undergraduate program continues its educational activities with 340 students.

The Clinical Psychology PhD Program, established under the Department of Psychology, was first launched in the 2013–2014 academic year with the support of faculty members from the Department of Psychiatry. The Psychology Graduate Program and the Clinical Psychology Graduate Program were established in 2023 and admitted their first students in the 2024–2025 academic year. Currently, the graduate programs continue their activities with a total of 43 students, including 32 master's students and 11 doctoral students.

The Department has a full-time academic staff consisting of one professor, two associate professors, seven assistant professors, and one research assistant with a PhD degree. 

The Department of Psychology has six research laboratories: the Cognitive Psychology Laboratory, Neuropsychology Laboratory, Close Relationships Research Laboratory, Lifespan Development Laboratory, Clinical Psychology Application Laboratory, and Suicide and Stress Research Laboratory.
