Mission and Vision

MISSION

Based on the determination that the past, especially the recent past, which has a primary role in shaping the present, can be understood by studying it with a scientific method and interdisciplinary perspective, to educate individuals who have gained a historical perspective and can view events and problems critically and as objectively as possible; To contribute to the formation of a healthy social memory for the benefit of humanity and the country by studying the different stages of world history and Turkish history within this framework and the interaction processes with the societies that Turks have contacted in the different geographical areas where they live, within a holistic approach with the same method and perspective; Understanding the importance of the accumulation of knowledge in the field of history and the impact and contribution that the awareness of historical experiences can have on the understanding of the present and the making of policies and decisions for the future; Putting the findings and information in question at the service of society and carrying out research and training activities for this purpose.

VISION

Since the study of the past is significantly influenced by the conditions and methods of the present, to update the production of scientific knowledge and the education given with contemporary methods and techniques; In this framework, with a questioning and innovative approach, to be a department that works to increase the knowledge and cultural equipment of the people of the country and to become a country that makes serious contributions to science and civilisation. To carry out joint projects by creating the necessary conditions for cooperation with universities in Turkey and abroad To send our students to universities abroad for education and training by taking advantage of programmes such as Socrates, Erasmus To ensure interactive participation in courses at every stage To promote interdisciplinary studies by establishing interdisciplinary research groups To increase the importance and topicality of history in society through studies to be carried out.
