Department of Mechanical Engineering at Adnan Menderes University was established in 2008 and has started education and training facilities in the undergraduate program and 2 graduate programs (with thesis and non-thesis) in Mechanical Engineering.
The primary mission of our Department of Mechanical Engineering is to prepare students for their professional life through education, inspiration, and mentorship. Our department strives to mold the young dynamic potential minds utilizing classroom, laboratory, and project-based instruction to emerge as full fledged potential future professionals. Undergraduate and graduate students are served by a curriculum that is based upon the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering, as well as forward looking and innovative context.
Students are prepared for diverse and successful careers across the global engineering marketplace, and creativity and critical thinking skills are underlined through research and design experiences.
It is also among our missions to graduate master of science level mechanical engineers who are able to apply the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering within their specialization and to graduate PhD level students with innovative and creative researches in order to develop new knowledge in the global context, and share the knowledge through publications.
Our Department of Mechanical Engineering’s vision is to acquire regional and national recognition as a place where the graduates are employed in their branch of interest by both industry or institutes.
Becoming an attracting department among the engineering departments in Turkey that meets universal standards with outstanding education and research and heightening the image of our department in society by inspring and mentoring qualified engineers who are innovative, immediate contributors to their profession and successful in advanced studies are consisted by our vision.
Expansion of the human knowledge in the discipline of mechanical engineering utilizing fundamental and applied researches through initiative and innovative means with the main target of improvement of our national scientific and technological capabilities is our department’s main motivation.
Amongst our department’s most preferential aims, enabling growth throughout graduate careers in the art, science, and responsibilities of engineering besides developing the professional potential of faculty is of top priority. Our department embraces mentoring opportunities and leadership opportunities contributing beyond the department’s and university’s borders so as to benefit the development of scholarly careers of faculty members. To transfer the resulting technology to industries, and to share our department¹s knowledge and experience with industries and society for mankind’s benefit through appropriate ethical manner are also among our targets..
Our quality policies are to conduct research and education at an advanced level، produce publications in well known journals، and provide consulting to the industry in Mechanical Engineering fields; graduate engineers and scientists who have abilities to work in teams، apply scientific and engineering principles in conducting research، design، and analysis، and report on the findings، appreciate the importance of professional and ethical responsibilities and be conscious about the environmental problems، by adhering to current ethical regulations and laws; improve infrastructure continuously for education and research; bring about total quality habit by producing accurate and reliable service.
First of all, students who completes our Bachelor of Science degree program basically acquires the perception of an engineer. With analytical way of thinking and solid mathematical background, they expand the knowledge in their specialization areas through further studies or implementation of fundamentals which they learn by attending courses or laboratory studies. In addition, design and optimization applications are among natural interest fields after attending technical graphics and computer aided drawing and design courses. Apart from engineering and mathematical fundamentals, selective courses from different faculties helps to broaden general viewpoint and consequently enables graduates to be more enterprising and social.
