The undergraduate programme in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations was established in 2005 and began its educational activities in 2012 by admitting its first cohort of students. The programme offers both daytime and evening classes.
In addition to undergraduate education, the department currently runs two postgraduate programmes: one with a thesis and one without.
Our department currently employs 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 1 Assistant Professor and 1 Research Assistant, forming an academic staff of five who engage in both teaching and research activities.
Our mission is to train individuals who can analyse labour markets, are well-equipped in the fields of social policy and labour relations, adhere to ethical values and possess a strong sense of social responsibility. It is aimed that our graduates, empowered with digital competencies, contribute to policy-making processes in the public sector, private enterprises and civil society organisations.
Our vision is to educate individuals capable of analysing the transformation of the world of work, prioritising decent work, critically evaluating the impact of digitalisation on labour processes and developing inclusive policies. With an approach that integrates scientific production and social contribution, we aim to become a respected academic reference point at both national and international levels through a contemporary, innovative and solution-oriented education model.
The main objective of the Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations is to train a qualified workforce equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of working life, social security and industrial relations, capable of critical thinking and conducting multidimensional analysis.
Our graduates have the opportunity to specialise and work in various fields such as human resources expertise, labour inspection, social security consultancy, and international employment advisory services, particularly within institutions such as the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Social Security Institution, the Turkish Employment Agency and trade unions, both in the public and private sectors.
