General Information

History The Department of Public Finance, one of the first academic units structured with the establishment of Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1992, was founded to carry out education and research activities in the field of public finance. Following the completion of academic and administrative infrastructure, the department began undergraduate education in 1994. Since its inception, the Department of Public Finance has produced graduates who take on effective roles in both public institutions and the private sector, and continues its efforts with a focus on improving educational quality and academic productivity. Our Mission The mission of the Department of Public Finance is to train individuals and bureaucrats who possess theoretical knowledge and practical skills in public finance; can develop innovative solutions to financial, economic, and social problems at local, national, and global levels; contribute to the shaping of public policies in line with sustainable development goals; are committed to universal values, think analytically, act with a sense of social responsibility, and exhibit leadership and entrepreneurial qualities. Our Vision The vision of the Department of Public Finance is to become a nationally and internationally recognized department that trains individuals and bureaucrats with critical and analytical thinking skills, a strong sense of social responsibility, commitment to ethical principles and universal values, and leadership and entrepreneurial traits; who can propose fiscal policies compatible with sustainable development goals; and who generate solutions to financial, economic, and social problems at all levels through scientific research and academic expertise. Our Purpose The purpose of the Department of Public Finance is to graduate students who internalize the basic conceptual framework of public finance; can accurately define and conceptualize financial, legal, and economic issues and phenomena; perform sound analysis and evaluations; apply mathematical, statistical, and scientific knowledge to the field of finance; use fundamental computer software; possess legal knowledge in areas related to public and private law in public finance; demonstrate leadership when needed; have developed communication and social skills; share a global and critical perspective; and embrace lifelong learning. Academic Staff The strong academic staff of the Department of Public Finance consists of 1 professor, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, and 2 research assistants with PhDs. Through ongoing research and publication efforts, the academic team significantly contributes to the department’s academic development. Physical Infrastructure Educational activities are conducted under the roof of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The faculty plays a central role in ensuring the physical infrastructure needed for teaching and in providing an environment suitable for achieving program learning outcomes. Located within the İsabeyli Campus in Nazilli, Aydın, the faculty has a total of 20,000 square meters of indoor space. The faculty contains 13 classrooms and 36 lecture halls. There are 80 offices, 64 of which are assigned to academic staff. Additionally, a technology room with 40 computers is available for student and staff use. In collaboration with İş Yatırım Securities Inc., one area has been transformed into a modern finance laboratory equipped with advanced technology. The conference hall within the faculty has a seating capacity of 350 and can host large-scale events. All classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with projectors and are shared across programs. The library, containing approximately 6,700 printed books and 41 periodicals, supports academic work and is continuously updated to expand access to information. A cafeteria and a staff lounge are available for students and staff. The campus also offers various sports areas and provides dining and canteen services. Outdoor seating areas have been installed across the campus, and commercial businesses such as a market, stationery store, and cafe located directly across the faculty serve the needs of students and staff. Technical Infrastructure The faculty’s computer and internet infrastructure provides 24-hour access for academic and administrative staff via desktop or laptop computers in every office, along with uninterrupted access to academic publications. Students can access the same services during class hours in computer labs. Wi-Fi access in nearby cafes and private businesses is also widely used by students. All academic and administrative units in the faculty have both wired internet and secure wireless EDUROAM network access. Aydın Adnan Menderes University has a robust information system infrastructure designed to manage educational processes, academic tracking, and student support services digitally. There are 15 active information systems in use across the university, with 5 directly supporting learning outcomes and educational goals, and 12 supporting administrative processes, data security, and technical support. The Student Information System (OBIS) is the main platform for managing academic processes online. The ADÜZEM (Distance Education Portal) facilitates access to online course content, allowing joint and elective courses to be conducted remotely. The ADÜ Virtual Meeting System (ADÜ STS) is primarily used at the graduate level for thesis monitoring and defense, enabling secure online academic meetings.
