ABOUT US

 

The department of Agricultural Economics started its activities with the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture in 1992. The Master of Science program in the department was offered in 1997 and doctorate program was offered in 2010

 

There are two main branches of the department: Farm management and agricultural policy and extension. Farm management studies planning and analysis of farm holdings, marketing of agricultural goods, cooperatives, and finance. Agricultural policy and extension studies both domestic and international aspects of agricultural policies implemented in agriculture, extension activities and social-economic aspects of the rural areas.  The department offers a graduate program that leads to M.S. and Ph.D. degree in agricultural economics. The current projects in the department include agricultural marketing, contract farming, and international trade issues.
